horse_clothing_xThe Story ‘About Us’ started many, many years ago! July 1987, I set up a small business in my bedroom whilst still living at home with my parents making horse and rider clothing. I made blankets for horses and sweatshirt and hat covers for riders and travelled around the country selling my wares from a VW campervan at horse shows. The business grew and soon I was selling my personalised co-ordinating horse and rider clothing to saddlers nationwide and then Worldwide!! (www was not around then !!!)

I married my gorgeous Pete in 1992 and he joined me in running the business. A few years later Aidan arrived on the scene, our son!! We had enjoyed the social side of all our antenatal group meetings with couples that had become friends, as their babies arrived we had made them pram blankets embroidered with their baby’s name as a gift. The blankets seemed to be a hit and many more enquiries arrived just from these few initial blankets we had made as gifts.

groupWith a bit of persuasion from our friends Mr Mole Blankets was created. It seemed to be the perfect gift for a new baby, cosy, soft and personalised with the baby’s name and date of birth, a keepsake for years to come. With the growth of both businesses and the birth of our daughter we decided to sell the horse clothing business, life was too busy and when a very close friend died of breast cancer it made us realise that enjoying life with family and friends is so important. We now enjoy running just Mr Mole Blankets, life is still hectic but a nice hectic!!

Since 2001 Mr Mole has expanded and so has our range, as the babies have grown so have our blankets. We now offer a range of blankets for babies, toddles, children and adults and we haven’t left out the family pet! We now make a range of blankets for cats and dogs.

Three years ago we added Personalised Christmas Stockings and 2013 saw the introduction of our Personalised Christmas Sack, What next? Since 1987 manufacturing in the UK has changed dramatically, fabric suppliers, machinery suppliers and all associated businesses have mostly closed or moved abroad making British manufacturing very difficult, we have visited China looking at the option of manufacturing over there but we have found quality and consistency very difficult to obtain. Our lovely team of ladies ( some who have been with us over 20 years) ooze quality and consistency so we continue to manufacture British made goods and we hope you continue to buy and enjoy them.
